Purpose & Details

The purpose of my professional presentation was to educate and inform teachers within my building of various technology tools they can utilize within their instruction. The title of my presentation is “BCSD Innovation Summit” and includes technologies presented at my district’s technology innovation summit. The presentation was conducted within my school building to roughly 10 educators within the field of special education.

Lessons Learned

One success from my presentation was the engagement received from my attendees. All educators were engaged which was shown by them asking questions, requesting additional resources, requesting my assistance to implement various technologies, and discussing possible ways to implement the resources.

Another success from my presentation was the ability to share my presentation with the educators for them to access digitally. Using a presentation on a digital platform ensured that all members could view the presentation at their own pace. Many attendees were exploring the presentation and reviewing previously presented material to further their knowledge.

This success saved my presentation from being a lecture. The technology within the room I was presenting in did not properly work. This led to me not being able to share my presentation on a large screen where all attendees could visually see the presentation. When conducting future presentations, I feel it is important to test the technology I will be presenting with prior to the presentation time if possible.

A third success from my presentation was the interactivity of the presentation. Within the presentation I gave my attendees time and directions to try the various technologies on their devices. This led to my audience being more engaged and intrigued by the platforms. They were able to actively try out the platform’s features, explore pre-made lessons and attempt to gamify their own lessons. Not only did this lead to my audience being more engaged in the presentation but it also sparked great discussions between the attendees.
