About Me
Welcome to my portfolio! I am Alison Beers, a successful Special Education team lead who dove into the world of Learning Design and Technologies. Throughout this portfolio you will explore deliverables created during my time in the Learning Design and Technologies M.Ed. program at the University of South Carolina.
With 4+ years of experience within the field of Special Education, I have seen firsthand the issues surrounding proper implementation and management of technology resources within the classroom. Throughout my time in education, I have worked solely in low-income Title 1 schools. My experiences have provided me with a wide range of perspectives, understanding and acquired skills.
I received my Bachelor of Science degree in Elementary Education and Special Education at Towson University in May of 2020. Entering the teaching profession during a global pandemic led to my interest in a higher degree in Learning Design and Technologies. Appropriate and accessible education for all students is my top priority. The pandemic opened my eyes to the vast number of teachers under prepared for using technology in unforeseen ways. My skills and experience teaching with technology quickly led to me training several teachers in various technologies. At the end of the academic year, I was awarded Honor District Rookie Teacher of the Year.
Upon completion of the Learning Design and Technologies M.Ed. program, I plan to pivot my career from being in the classroom to providing for the classroom. My main goal is to make a difference in students’ education by enhancing their learning experiences through development, design and facilitation of proper implementation of instructional technology.
